Overview
Constructing accessibility
Most recently I was a UI/UX designer for Wharton External Affairs on the communications team. I transformed pages into clear, accessible, WCAG conforming experiences for Wharton Alumni to navigate without confusion. This allowed for easy access to alumni reunion information, connecting, and donation experience.
Context
Redesigning for Alumni Access
Our Smugmug site where Alumni access reunion albums was not in WCAG compliance and hard to view.
Redesign
Before…
1
Dark site background
Harsh contrast that makes text hard on eyes
2
3
No clear indication what text is clickable and link
Now!
1
Soft white background
Softened contrast that makes site easier to read and more pleasing to the eyes
2
3
Hover states added
More interactive link experience leading to less confusion and more usage
Additional Work at WHEA
Glow up!
Redesigning text links to functional buttons for website FAQ's. Applied across nine FAQ categories that each had lists of questions.
Incorrectly built button
Text with a link was used to function as back button
Now
Proper button
Used correct button widget with hover states and correct tags. Stands out more than a linked text and makes button easier to find
