Overview

Empty site with no identity

The Summer@Penn site came to me with all of its copy inserted, but no design choices made for the site. My task was to create a design identity for this website with our preexisting brand, update image content, and eventually plug in updated copy.

Design

Compiling images, color palettes, and vibes

I sourced all of my images and design choices from our existing physical Summer@Penn branding.

1

Images

I sourced all of our images for the hero and blog posts from our own Smugmug

2

Color Palettes

Created modified web friendly palette from existing Summer@Penn brand since a physical magazine exists

3

Sizing

Went through each blog post, home page section, and hero to make sure all text sizing and spacing were consistent

4

Font

Large fun serif font for the title and headings, and then a sans serif font for easy to read body text

Existing color Palette

Used a darker version of the teal for text legibility, and a very pale yellow for the site background instead of a stark white.

One section of blog post categories

Subsections with their own titles, description and button. Spacing, sizing, and alignment all consistent throughout.

Hero

Iconic Penn love statue with white text overlaid for high readability and contrast.
